What is Microneedling with PRP?
Jubilee Cosmetic Surgery is proud to offer microneedling, a treatment that punctures small holes into the skin on your neck, face, or chest to stimulate skin repair. As an extra benefit, your platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may be applied to the same area to further help tissue heal and permit the skin to begin growing new cells. Both of these treatments together can lessen the appearance of wrinkles, scars, large pores, and other skin problems. The texture of your skin could be greatly improved to appear smoother and more even in tone without damaging the skin. If you'd like to find out more about the microneedling with PRP treatment, schedule a private consultation with board-certified surgeon Dr. Tsion Berhane at her office in Silver Spring, MD.

Can I Have Microneedling with PRP?
A great candidate for microneedling with PRP is anyone seeking to modify the appearance or texture of the top layer of their skin. Uneven skin tone, dry skin, rough texture, age spots, loose skin, acne, wrinkles, and scarring are skin conditions that could benefit from microneedling with PRP. This therapy may also be employed to help combat the effects of sun damage that may have caused your skin to have a rough feel or hyperpigmentation.
Our Microneedling and Platelet-Rich Plasma Technique
Prior to the microneedling section of your treatment, someone from our medical staff will draw your blood for your PRP collection. The drawn blood will then be taken to our lab for the separation process where your platelets, growth factors, and viable cells will be condensed into PRP. For the microneedling treatment, Jubilee Cosmetic Surgery uses modern technology to create tiny holes in your skin. The small needles used won't damage your skin but will instead help stimulate the production of collagen. Once the microneedling is done, the PRP serum will be put on the skin to sink in. Once the PRP is completely absorbed, we'll clear away the serum and cleanse the skin.
What to Expect
Following your procedure, you might experience some normal effects, such as swelling, redness, and bruising. We recommend that patients avoid using makeup, using exfoliating face washes, or swimming in a swimming pool for about three days post-treatment. Activities like this could expose your skin to strong bacteria and chemicals, which may lead to adverse side effects. You also need to intentionally avoid exposure to the sun or use protective steps when planning to be outside. Final results are generally seen within several weeks as the skin works to fix and heal itself.
Microneedling with PRP Follow-Up
Initially, we recommend getting multiple microneedling with PRP treatments performed every couple of weeks. Following the initial series of treatments, you may want to get maintenance microneedling with PRP sessions at least 2 – 4 times a year. In between treatments, you may want to schedule another skin treatment to exfoliate old skin and nourish new skin layers. Dr. Berhane will create a personalized microneedling with PRP treatment plan for you based on the starting condition of your skin and your specific concerns.
